Fish Phone Sound Bath

Welcome screen in AR passthrough mode. The fish sculpture is 3d digital reconstrution of one from the MAPUKA collection.

Description

Fish Phone Sound Bath invites participants into a contemplative, immersive sound bath connecting human and ocean life through interactive audio and AI. Blending scientific data and speculative design, the piece allows users to experience underwater acoustics and explore interspecies connections. By engaging with fish behavior and ocean sounds, participants reflect on our shared intersubjectivity across species and environments. The piece is a new portable, XR verison of the Fish Phone Booth project from Getty PST Embodied Pacific. The piece runs on a Quest 3 (or other compatible device) in passthrough mode.

This project was developed for the 17th International Conference on Interactive Digital Storytelling (ICIDS) in Baranquilla, Colombia December 2-4, 2024.
