Bent Chair

The idea here was simple–to take a chair and bend it. You can see how the legs are slightly torqued, the back is crooked. It functions as an anthropomorphic presence, of sorts. I liked it as a person in these night shots. And I tend to admire its legs.

Its pretty much a piece of trash, but I do keep it around the studio. When I see it, it talks to me about beds, tables, domestic spaces, and our perpendicular relationship to the floor. Projecting this gesture forward into new space, I would like to twist, torque, or bend some other perpendicular system in a much more substantive way.
