Lost Cats

Appropriating lost pet posters from my immediate environment, I intervene in the recovery of missing pets, and rework my neighbors’ expressions of loss and desire in an observance that is by turns elegiac and emotionally parasitic. Public expressions of private attachment, the posters are visual pleas to a local community. Reproducing the reproduction, I remake the disposable xerox prints by hand with graphite on canvas. With an understanding of the probable loss of the cats to a local coyote population, these images take on a tragic dimension. Series of 8 images. Each image is 24×30″, graphite on canvas.
